About the Department

The Department of Political Science of Asannagar Madan Mohan Tarkalankar College started working in 2007. The department started its journey with the Program Course only. After implementation of NEP 2020,the department has both the major and minor courses. At present, the department has three teachers---two in substantive posts and one as a State- aided College Teacher(SET Qualified).

Aims and Objectives:

1. To impart basic education in political science.
2. To acquire and develop knowledge and skill in the subject.
3. To develop practical temperament.
4. To prepare the students for admission to higher studies.
5. To prepare the students for competitive exams.
6. To motivate the students to use the digital resource for academic activities.
7. To inspire the students for achieving their future goals.

Infrastructural Facilities:

A well-equipped Library that caters the needs of the students as well as the teachers. Specimen copies are preserved for the disposal of the students. Internet facilities for the students and staff are provided centrally. Apart from this, there are projector machines that make teaching-learning process more interesting.

Teaching Methods:

Apart from traditional method of teaching with chalk and duster, and oral method of teaching, we arrange for special interactive classes by the method of group discussion or question-answer method so as to encourage the students and ensure their active participation. It helps the students to acquire skill and knowledge and to gain confidence. He/she who secures highest marks in the examination is awarded. The department organizes parent-teachers’ meeting to keep the parents updated about the student’s progress. Special classes or doubt clearance classes are arranged for the students. Classes (during the Covid-19 period) are taken through online mode by using Zoom platform, Team Link, WhatsApp and Google classroom.

Strength and Opportunities:

Political Science department of Asannagar Madan Mohan Tarkalankar College has dedicated and sincere teachers who are the real strength and source of inspiration of the students. The greatest strength of the department is, however, teacher-student intimate relationship. Job -oriented coaching classes are organised for the students of the department. Students have internet facilities. Special tutorial classes are arranged for the students of the department. Backup classes are provided to help the students to clear their doubts.
